5/27/14 – Keystone’s Senior Environmental Scientist Participates in Junior Achievement Program

Senior Environmental Scientist, Timothy M. O’Connor, C.E.P., CPESC, CPSWQ, LEED AP, recently taught “JA Career Success” to high school students at Binghamton City School District’s BOCES East Learning Center as part of the Junior Achievement Program. Junior Achievement is a non-profit organization that connects business and education to build a stronger community through programs that focus on work readiness, financial literacy and entrepreneurship. Business volunteers use their life and business experiences to teach a pre-designed program on the free enterprise system. The volunteer teaches a curriculum that focuses on business, citizenship, economics, entrepreneurship, ethics/character, financial literacy and career development. During the seven-week course Mr. O’Connor discussed the tools and skills required to earn and keep a job in high-growth career industries. Key topics included the following:

•    4Cs: critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity.
•    Strong soft skills.
•    Work priorities.
•    STEM and other high-growth industries.
•    Personal-brand and job-hunting tools—resumes, cover letters, interviews and digital profiles.

Keystone is committed to supporting our local community and we are proud of Mr. O’Connor’s involvement and dedication to this worldwide volunteer organization.
